An intriguing variation on the classic Old Fashioned, this cocktail recipe was created by Amy Burgess of The Meatball Shop. The classic Old Fashioned is stark in its simplicity, a thing not to be much trifled with. We take very minor liberties with it here, just amplifying the spicy bite of the rye with an additional kick of black pepper, the rich palm syrup smoothing the introduction of these two main players. Best paired with a formidable mustache and a top hat.
½ oz Black Pepper Rich Simple Syrup
2 oz rye whiskey
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Stir ingredients with ice, serve in a rocks glass and garnish with an orange peel.
